Whether a large medical center or community hospital, many health care centers have the same problem: patients and visitors feel anxiety and stress about where they are and where they’re supposed to go. As health care complexes continue to grow and morph, buildings, entrances and parking aren’t clear and departments split into sub-specialties, often with similar names that are confusing. These issues can be solved with a comprehensive wayfinding plan.

We plan the visitor experience “door to door” with user-centered signage, digital tools, maps and “non-sign” wayfinding devices that enable self-navigation.

CG’s wayfinding specialist, an environmental psychologist, formulates a custom strategy that not only addresses patient needs and cognitive abilities but also recommends client policies to support long-term wayfinding success.

User feedback and testing pay dividends. During the design process CG works with patient advocates and staff to develop user-focused solutions. Concepts are tested with on-site mockups and prototypes to evaluate both function and appearance.

There are many opportunities for enriching the health care experience. In addition to a wayfinding strategy and signage, Cloud Gehshan designs customized environmental graphics, donor recognition programs, and interpretive elements.
