2020 ASLA Professional Awards recognizes the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial

CG is proud to announce that the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial has been recognized by the 2020 ASLA Professional Awards, receiving an Honor Award in General Design.

The powerful memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to the 3.5 million veterans living with permanent disabilities, and is located adjacent to the National Mall within full view of the United States Capitol. It is made up of 48 freestanding glass panels integrated with a series of large-scale images and bronze gures. The glass panels are inscribed with powerful quotations and images that capture the personal stories of courage and extraordinary sacrifice.

The memorial design reflects the vision of Michael Vergason Landscape Architects. In designing the glass walls and stone inscriptions, CG worked with MVLA and artist Larry Kirkland, who also created the bronze sculptures. History Associates researched the interpretive content and quotations.
