The Rail Park project wins a Preservation Achievement Award

CG is proud to announce the Rail Park project has been recognized by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia’s 2020 Annual Preservation Achievement Awards!

Each year the Preservation Alliance presents the Preservation Achievement Awards to “honor projects involving the preservation or protection of historic resources including the restoration, rehabilitation and/or adaptive reuse of historic properties.”

To experience the Rail Park — an elevated ribbon of green — is to depart from a dense urban area to open space and spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline. CG designed the 80-foot long corten steel “ghost map” that provides a dramatic visual reminder of what the Callowhill industrial neighborhood once was, and the fascinating stories and significant architecture that merited its placement on the National Register of Historic Places.

Congratulations to our client Center City District as well as the project team including Friends of the Rail Park, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Studio Bryan Hanes, The Lighting Practice, Robert Goldstein, Harry Kyriakodis, Urban Engineers and AP Construction.
