Darwin Martin House

CG has designed a sign program for the Darwin Martin House, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most significant residential commissions. The multi-building complex has been restored to its 1907 “year of significance.” CG’s signs interpret the groundbreaking architecture, landscape, art glass and furnishings. Wright’s wife Isabelle had a passion for gardening, and one sign interprets the floricycle – a beautiful crescent-shaped arrangement of perennials designed for 4-season bloom and color.

A breathtaking visitor center, designed by Toshiko Mori, offers a modern interpretation of some of Wright’s favorite design details, such as the inverted hip roof.

Notable: nearby Graycliff Estate on Lake Erie, also designed by Wright for Darwin Martin, is also open to visitors.
