Maria Braswell

Designer, Interpretive Coordinator

As CG’s interpretive coordinator Maria uses her research, writing, audience evaluation and design skills to support a range of interpretive projects. Maria received a BA in Art History at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, then earned an MFA in Museum Exhibition Planning + Design at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Maria has a particular interest in creating environments for audiences with disabilities; she designed an Accessibility Toolkit for Art Reach and served on the Accessibility Advisory Council for their 2021 summer conference. She also helped develop a workshop for the Disability Pride Conference, and has conducted research on multisensory exhibit design and tactile storytelling.

Maria’s background in art history led to successful engagements as exhibitions intern at Baltimore Museum of Art and curatorial intern at the Florence University of the Arts Student Gallery in Italy. Maria is fluent in French and conversant in Spanish.
