The University of Rochester’s multiple campuses extend throughout the city and surrounding areas, creating a confusing situation for visitors. The University hired CG to design gateway and exterior signage that was not only welcoming, but also created a sense of separation between the campuses and their world-renowned Medical Center.
Several unique campuses are united under one shared identity in CG’s signage and wayfinding master plan. This unified identity builds a stronger sense of place and makes the visitor feel more connected when traveling between campuses.
CG is ensuring that the materials used can withstand the often-harsh winter conditions of upstate New York. The signage selected by the design team can withstand blizzard-like conditions for many years, decreasing the continued costs of maintenance.
Notable: Gateway signage sets a boundary between the campus and the medical center, while at the same time showing the partnership between the two institutions.
