With two world-class research universities nestled within its city limits, Rochester is a college town that is drawing more than just students. Once known as “Flower City” because of its thriving seed and nursery industry, the city has changed from a manufacturing town to a more modern center of commerce for western New York. Rochester’s dynamic and ever-changing population, due to its research and educational facilities, has led officials to embrace and plan for future growth.
CG designed a pedestrian wayfinding system for Rochester’s Center City District. The sign program defines the distinctive city districts and orients visitors to downtown life and activities while honoring its past as a boom town through the use of historic markers.
