Milton Hershey School

CG’s goal was to create a new sign program with a spirited sense of place for the School’s K-12 academic and residential campus in rural Pennsylvania.

The look of the former sign system was derived from the work of English cabinet and furniture maker Thomas Chippendale. Instead of creating a new sign vocabulary, Cloud Gehshan decided to interpret the Chippendale motif in a more modern and youthful way.

The signs use a lively color palette; the sign “boot” color exactly matches the dark purple-brown of a Hershey bar wrapper.

Notable: Set up by Milton Hershey to help needy children, the School’s trust owns the controlling interest in The Hershey Company.
